Extreme Chase Mod is a free mod by EmoLevelDesigner for the FPS video game Rise of the Triad (2013). This utility is a DLC-sized mod that introduces a new protagonist, a new villain, new locations, and a brand new chapter to the H.U.N.T. history.

Extreme Chase Mod is like a huge mod that expands the base game’s canonical lore, but everything it adds isn’t considered canon, much like the Falskaar mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Players should note it’s a mod for the 2013 release, not the older Rise Of The Triad: Dark War.

A pseudo-sequel

Rise of the Triad’s (ROTT) reboot released in 2013 intended to recreate the feeling of ’90s FPS video games that players loved such as DOOM 64. The game was met with mixed reviews, but it has its own cult following that is looking forward to more content. Extreme Chase Mod is created to satiate this craving, giving fans of the game more of the same old-school shooting experience.

In this mod, an El Oscuro egg was missed on San Nicolas island. The egg then hatched and as a descendant of El Oscuro, Hermann the Gross, took over the triad. After multiple attempts to locate the egg, the H.U.N.T team finally tracked the descendant to a remote region. Your mission is to defeat the Triad forces and destroy the leader of the evil organization.

The mod features a new location called the White Castle, which includes parts that are based on real-life locations. According to the developer, this mod is as close as players can get to a sequel to ROTT. That being said, it doesn’t modify core gameplay mechanics, so it’s the same gameplay experience as the base game. You can also expect issues from the base game to persist.

If you enjoyed the ‘90s shooter experience offered by Rise of the Triad, Extreme Chase Mod is worth installing. The mod doesn’t overhaul gameplay mechanics or remaster it in any way, but it expands the base game so fans can have more to sink their teeth into. It also doesn’t address some issues from the base game so you can expect to see the same problems here and there.
